Department Of Public Health Dentistry

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, shares the vision of Ajeenkya D. Y Patil University of providing education with excellence, with a social face.
The department recognizes the need and has undertaken a series of initiatives aimed at reaching out to the disadvantaged population in the social and rural periphery. The department conducts regular dental camps to cater dental services on request from NGOS, Philanthropists and allied social workers, thus aiming to reach the underprivileged and needy population.

Learningby doing ismore emphasizedwhere in students are provided with an opportunity to excel, perform and learn beyond the boundaries of their curriculum.Student training in the department takes departure from the traditional disease status evaluation towards development of crucial Dental Public Health skills bygiving more importance on prevention of disease and promotion of health. Student publications are also strongly encouraged.

The department provides the students with an opportunity to take part in various conferences, forums, rallies, competitions etc. Public health dentistry is a branch of dentistry which focus on all levels of prevention which focuses on overall improvement of oral health. The branch aims at overcoming the existing difference in the disparity of dental health services available by increasing the awareness among the school children and general population about the importance of oral health and general health.

The subject has the huge potential of spreading smiles, thus enabling the each individual to enjoy God's gift of disease free mouth.
